Street art is experiencing a heyday for those wanting to explore the rough-and-ready charm of the city. Walking tours of this nature are most certainly a good option for free tourist attractions from gentrified barrios to dodgy alleys, from surly tunnels to bridge underpasses, the world over.
On my travels, stumbled across some choice gems around the Quadraro in Rome, Kasteler Strand (Rheinwiesen Mainz-Kastel) in Mainz, and Observatory to Woodstock in Cape Town. The artists range from Jim Avignon, Gary Baseman, Diavu’, Gio Pistone, Lucamaleonte, Ron English, Mr Thoms, Zelda Bomba and our very own Jack Fox and Nardstar* Get out there and encounter the awful beauty of your city.
